Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Jochen Hühn
Department of Experimental Immunology, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig
The department aims to comprehensively understand cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune regulation that enable the organism to maintain self-tolerance and to modulate the type and strength of pathogen-specific immune responses. Using this knowledge the department is developing new tools and strategies for the diagnosis, prevention and therapy of infectious diseases. A particular focus of the department is laid on regulatory T cells (Tregs). Here, the researchers aim to extend the existing knowledge about the development of Tregs, their epigenetic fixation, their functional properties and their mechanisms of action in order to apply or modulate them for therapeutic purposes.
