Dear colleagues,

We would like to welcome you to our kidney transplant conference in November 2024.

After presenting and discussing our transplantation figures at the MHH, we would like to dedicate this conference to the very important topic of cytomegalovirus (CMV) management after kidney transplantation.

As you know, CMV is a serious pathogen that can contribute to severe infectious problems after transplantation. Despite very structured monitoring and the use of CMV prophylactics, problems with recurrent or refractory CMV replications or CMV disease occur time and again. Fortunately, on the other hand, there are a number of therapeutic options, some of which are very new.

Here it is important to keep an overview and decide when to treat, how, with which preparation and for how long.

We are therefore particularly looking forward to the presentation by Prof. Oliver Witzke, Director of the Clinical Department of Infectiology at Essen University Hospital, a proven expert in the treatment of CMV, among other things.
