We treat increases in blood lipid levels (cholesterol, triglycerides, lipoprotein a) as well as rarer lipid metabolism disorders.
This outpatient clinic is not responsible for the clarification of obesity or fat distribution disorders, but the endocrinological outpatient clinic is.

We mainly treat people who have already been treated with fat reducers, but either did not respond sufficiently to the therapy or could not tolerate it. Therefore, when you first register at our outpatient clinic, we will first send you a questionnaire about your previous treatment for your lipometabolic disorder. Your appointment request can only be processed after we have received the completed and informative questionnaire. Please understand that, due to the high demand for appointments, we have to refer people who have not yet received treatment back to their general practitioner for treatment and therapy control.

The high demand for appointments also explains the waiting time of several months for an initial appointment with us.

Please bring your previous findings regarding fat levels and cardiological examinations (ECG, stress ECG, long-term blood pressure, heart ultrasound, ultrasound of neck or leg arteries). We will then take your detailed medical history, assess your personal risk of cardiovascular disease and, based on this, set your target for fat levels. You will then receive a therapy recommendation and, if necessary, a prescription. If required, we will arrange for nutritional counselling including keeping a food diary. If there is a suspicion of a familial lipid metabolism disorder, we will recommend a genetic examination, which can then be carried out by a referral from your GP during a consultation with a human geneticist.
If your lipid metabolism disorder is well controlled, further care, including the prescription of medication, can be provided by general practitioners or specialist practices.
