The hepatology outpatient clinic diagnoses and treats a wide range of hepatological diseases. These include autoimmune liver diseases such as primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), as well as vascular liver diseases such as Budd-Chiari syndrome and Osler's disease. Further areas of focus are the diagnosis and treatment of infectious liver diseases such as viral hepatitis and metabolic liver diseases such as metabolic/non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. In a special clinic for rare liver diseases, patients with porphyria, haemochromatosis, Wilson's disease or alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency, for example, are cared for. We also care for patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension and associated complications. For non-invasive determination of the fibrosis stage, we use transient elastography with FibroScan® and ARFI-based shear wave elastography.
In order to improve medical treatment and answer scientific questions, we conduct clinical studies (phase I-IV) in the field of outpatient hepatology on various liver diseases.
