Students
Your MHH student card is also your library card. You will find your user number on the back of the card. To activate your library card free of charge, please first complete the online registration form. You can then register at the lending desk by presenting your student card as well as your identity card (alternatively: your passport and a registration certificate from the residents’ registration office / Meldebescheinigung des Einwohnermelde- oder Bürgeramtes).
MHH employees
Please first complete the online registration form. You can then register at the lending desk by presenting your multi-card and identity card (alternatively: your passport and a registration certificate from the residents’ registration office / Meldebescheinigung des Einwohnermelde- oder Bürgeramtes). There, your library card will be issued to you for a one-time fee of 5 euros in cash.
Doctoral candidates
You have not yet completed your doctorate registered at the MHH and will soon lose your student status? Please complete the form for MHH doctoral candidates. Then send it to the following e-mail address: information.bibliothek@mh-hannover.de. Alternatively, you can also hand in the completed form at the lending desk. After successful verification of your application by the doctoral office, you will be granted access to the off-campus e-resources.
Private users
Please complete the online registration form first. You can then register at the lending desk by presenting your identity card (alternatively: your passport and a registration certificate from the residents’ registration office / Meldebescheinigung des Einwohnermelde- oder Bürgeramtes). There, your library card will be issued to you for a one-time fee of 5 euros in cash.
For Minors a declaration of consent and the identity card from a parent or legal guardian is required.
HOBSY is the network of academic libraries and Hanover City Library with the aim of improving the supply of literature in Hanover and facilitating the use of the libraries. One step towards this end is the uniform user card enabling you to use all libraries affiliated to the system. Many HOBSY libraries offer the inter-library return of literature as a service. You can return your borrowed literature from these libraries to another participating library. More information can be found here:

Is there a fee for registration?
For employees of the MHH and private users, registration costs a one-time fee of 5 euros, to be paid at the lending desk.
If you already have a HOBSY card, this amount is waived and data of your card will simply be read in by us.

I already have a HOBSY card, am I already registered with you?
If you have received a HOBSY card from another library, you must register separately for each library in the HOBSY network.
In this case, please complete our online registration form and bring your valid identity card/passport for activation to the lending desk within our opening hours.
The fee of 5 euros is waived due to already having the HOBSY card.
