Managing literature
The creation of references and the bibliography in a scientific paper is usually done with the help of a literature management program. These programs enable the import of references from literature databases into a separate management tool, as well as the automatic creation of in-text citations and the bibliography. Here, the specifications of the individual journals (outlay styles) for the reference index are already a feature of the program and are automatically implemented.
The MHH has a campus licence for the literature management program EndNote Fusion (formerly known as RefWorks). It can be used free of charge by all MHH members. The most common outlay style at the MHH is the MHH citation style.
In addition, the literature management programme EndNote Desktop is available, which can be ordered free of charge for MHH employees via the MIT. This is a quota of individual licences that can only be installed on an MHH-owned PC.

Go to https://refworks.proquest.com/signup/email/. New users must first register. To do this, follow the instructions on the screen. The initial registration must take place in the MHH computer network. When creating the account, an e-mail address ending in mh-hannover.de or stud.mh-hannover.de must be entered. Afterwards, you can also access EndNote Fusion from outside the network.
The MHH-CitationStyle is available for EndNote Fusion. In Word (first install EndNote Fusion for Word via Add-Ins), it can be set up and used via Citation Styles, Change Citation Style, Institutional Styles, MHH-CitationStyle.
If you wish the data to be displayed in this style immediately after entering it into EndNote Fusion, you can switch to this view via the Normal View option (top right). Here, select ‘References’ view’ and set the MHH-CitationStyle.
Users of EndNote Desktop can import this file into their EndNote Style Library. Please note that downloading is only possible using Firefox or Safari. Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge are not supported. This YouTube video provides guidance.

The output style can also be used in Zotero. To do this, first open Settings, then select the ‘Citations’ tab, click on ‘Get additional styles…’ and search for ‘MHH’ or ‘Medizinische Hochschule Hannover’. You can now select ‘Medizinische Hochschule Hannover’ and use the style.

Can PhD students who have already left the MHH continue to use EndNote Fusion?
Yes, if you have registered your work at the PhD office of the MHH and submitted a request in the library. In this case, access to EndNote Fusion only expires when the deposit copies are handed in.
