Interlibrary loan / Document delivery service
Media and journal articles that we do not hold in our collection can be ordered via interlibrary loan. This requires an active user account with our library.
The specific fees can be found by selecting the user group to which you belong in the drop-down menu below. The delivery speed (normal or express order) also has an influence on the amount of the costs incurred.
The document delivery service Subito is more expensive, but allows faster delivery of the desired documents. We will place express orders for you via Subito. Alternatively, you can create your own user account with Subito and place your orders yourself.
Please note that for copyright reasons we cannot send any articles by e-mail or make them available as a PDF - the output is in printed form. Distribution and duplication are not permitted.
Processing time for an interlibrary loan order in the normal procedure: 3-7 days; costs: € 1.50 per order.
Duration of an express order: 24-72 hours, costs: from € 6.00. The price depends, among other things, on the desired completion time.
- Order: Fill in one online form (see below) for each order, select the option “Normalbestellung”, “Eilbestellung I” or “II” and send it directly to the library by clicking on the button "Formular abschicken". We will order the desired literature for you.
The interlibrary loan fee of €1.50 (plus fee for express order, if applicable) is transferred quarterly from your department's cost center to the library account.
You are an employee but do not pay the fees via a cost centre? In this case, we ask that you fill in the form for "Students & Externals". Payment is then made when you pick it up at the lending desk.
Order journal articles for staff
- Delivery: Journal articles are sent directly to your workplace by internal post. We will notify you by email when ordered books arrive. You collect the books from the lending desk.
- Important: The prerequisite is that orders may only be placed by persons who already have an active user account in our library.

- Order: have an interlibrary loan account set up at the lending desk between 8:00 am and 4:45 pm and place the order yourself via the online interlibrary loan of the joint union catalog GVK. Further information can be found here.
Alternatively, you can fill in an interlibrary loan form online for each order. You can submit this online and pay the service fee (plus any costs incurred for express orders) conveniently when you collect the item.

Can I also order e-books via interlibrary loan?
Electronic resources are excluded from interlibrary loan and cannot be ordered and made available to our users.

Do I have to be a registered user of the MHH library in order to be able to initiate an interlibrary loan?
Yes, being registered with the library is a prerequisite for placing interlibrary loan orders.
