Research Center for Translational Regenerative Medicine

(Formerly REBIRTH - From Regenerative Biology to Reconstructive Therapy)

Description

The center was funded from 2006 to 2019 as the Cluster of Excellence REBIRTH as part of the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments and now continues to exist as a virtual ‘Research Center for Translational Regenerative Medicine’.

MHH partners in this field: the Leibniz Universität Hannover, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V., the Stiftung Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover, the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine, the Institute of Farm Animal Genetics of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (FLI) Mariensee, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research Braunschweig and the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine Münster.

The consortium addresses some of the big questions in health research as well as the associated challenges to medicine. The vision is to develop new therapeutic concepts based on biological principles beyond the currently existing approaches. These new regenerative therapies should contribute to the healing of serious diseases of the heart, lung, liver and blood (including diseases of the immune system).
