Kickoff for Postdoc Appreciation Week

- What does it truly take to succeed in the competitive world of academia?
- Which performance metrics really matter—and how can I meet them without losing myself in the process?
- How can I unlock my potential while staying connected to a supportive scientific community?
These are questions many postdocs—whether Medical Scientists or Clinician Scientists struggle with after completing their doctorate. It’s a phase characterized by uncertainty, but also by new possibilities. Yet often, clear guidance and responsibilities are lacking: funding paths, career options, and institutional resources are not always visible or easy to access. Moreover, opportunities for genuine peer-to-peer exchange with fellow postdocs facing similar challenges are rare.
With Postdoc Connect @MHH, we want to set an impulse.
We invite you to connect with fellow postdocs at MHH and help to build an institutionally peer network. A network that enables you to define your goals, leverage available resources, and take an active role in shaping your personal and professional development.
In an open and collegial atmosphere, we will provide insights into career strategies and funding opportunities at MHH, reflect on standards of scientific excellence, and open up discussion around key success factors: publications, third-party funding, and visibility—as well as resilience, belonging, and mutual support.
Anette Melk, MD, PhD (Dean for Academic Career Development) will provide an overview of the existing career development programs at MHH.
Dhanya Ramachandran, PhD (founder of the Lower Saxony Postdoc Network) will offer insights into postdoctoral networking beyond MHH and share key impulses for further engagement.
Postdoc Connect @MHH marks the beginning of something new:
A space where postdocs can meet, empower each other, and co-create a platform that offers orientation, fosters networking, and supports individual growth.
Who can join?
All postdocs and clinician scientists at MHH—regardless of discipline or career stage. Your questions, perspectives, and ideas are essential for building a strong and sustainable postdoc community.
