Jutta Bleidorn studied medicine in Kiel, Freiburg and Göttingen and completed her training as a specialist in general medicine in 1998. She has been working at the Institute of General Practice since 2006.
Her scientific focus is on conducting clinical studies and drug trials in general practice, using the example of the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (studies HWI-01, ICUTI, REGATTA). For the ICUTI study (immediate vs. demand-adapted antibiotic therapy in uncomplicated UTI), she and the team from Göttingen were awarded the German Research Prize for General Medicine 2016 (Dr. Lothar Beyer Prize). The overarching research topic is the implementation of research projects in GP practices and the development of infrastructures such as research practice networks. Jutta Bleidorn is a member of the "Clinical Studies in General Practice" network, which she initiated in 2010 and coordinated until 2015.
In 2016, she habilitated in general medicine with the topic "Significance, feasibility and problems of clinical drug trials in GP care using the example of uncomplicated urinary tract infection".
Prof. Bleidorn has been Head of the Institute of General Medicine at Jena University Hospital since 01.02.2019.
