Reliable, comprehensive and robust data from outpatient care - this is what the Observational Practice Network Registry (BeoNet Registry) stands for.

The Observational Practice Network Register

There is hardly any reliable, comprehensive and reliable data on real patient care in the outpatient sector. In various medical preventive and curative, political or economic areas, extrapolations or retrospective data from health insurance companies or health reporting are therefore used.

To address this shortcoming, the BeoNet registry is being created at Hannover Medical School (MHH) as part of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) / DZL-BREATH site network.

In cooperation with practicing physicians, clinicians and scientists, up-to-date, quality-assured data from primary care will be collected and made available to physicians and researchers. The basis for this is data documented in the electronic patient files of general practitioners, pulmonologists and pediatricians. For specific questions, this can be supplemented with study-specific information from questionnaires or linked with data from the inpatient sector. Practicing physicians and researchers alike can access this well-founded information, which reflects everyday practice and maps disease progression and systemic interventions in the outpatient sector. The aim of the BeoNet register is to provide a database for answering questions that are relevant to medical care and important for patients.

The project currently involves registered physicians and clinicians, IT experts, economists, sociologists, data protection officers and ethicists from Heidelberg, Munich and Hanover. The development of the BeoNet register is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

During the pilot phase of the BeoNet Registry, two diseases from the field of pneumology will be studied in more detail: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and end-stage lung disease.

Further information on the BeoNet Registry can also be found in the German Clinical Trials Registry under the number DRKS00005822, in the general information flyer, the eTable, the data protection concept or under Publications . The positive vote of the Ethics Committee can be found under No. 1481-2012.
