In the Department of Administrative Patient Admission, all personal data is collected promptly and completely in a personal patient interview and all necessary formalities are completed as part of an inpatient admission at Hannover Medical School (MHH). This includes a detailed consultation as well as the conclusion of a treatment contract, optional service agreements, information on Data Protection, consent to the use of patient data and biomaterials, discharge management(Annex 1a and Annex 1b) and other important documents.
The main legal basis for treatment at the MHH is the General Terms and Conditions of Contract (AVB).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on +49 511 532 19300 (e-mail: Zentralaufnahme@MH-Hannover.de).

Please contact the specialist department treating you or your admitting ward to arrange an appointment.
You can reach the switchboard by calling 0511-532 0.
You can view a corresponding list here and print it out if required.
Their correct identification during treatment is very important to us.
Increasingly complex treatment procedures, examination options and high patient volumes place new demands on the safety concept of our Clinical Department.
Our aim is to ensure that you as a patient receive safe and optimal treatment despite the increased demands of everyday hospital life, even at times when you are unable to actively help us, such as when you are under the influence of medication or unconscious.
We believe that a personal patient identification band (PIB) with your data provides additional security and contains the following data:
- Surname, first name,
- date of birth,
- gender,
- case number,
- patient number,
- Ward or patient number in the form of a barcode and numbers.
The patient wristband (latex- and PVC-free) is put on in the administrative patient admission and should only be removed when leaving the MHH.
The MHH team on the ward will of course be happy to answer any questions you may have at any time
Treatment costs and optional services
Here you will find information on billing for your inpatient hospital stay
The main legal basis for treatment at the MHH is the General Terms and Conditions of Contract (AVB).
The following link will first provide you with general information on the DRG system.
If you have statutory health insurance...
your electronic health card (eGK) will be read in first. MHH's patient accounting department will send notification of your admission, discharge and final invoice electronically to your statutory health insurance provider.
If you have private health insurance (PKV)...
(full insurance cover or additional insurance cover as a patient with statutory health insurance), we recommend that you take advantage of the direct billing option so that MHH can invoice your health insurance company directly. This saves you the effort of submitting the invoice to your insurance company and the transfer. In addition, there is no need to pay the expected treatment costs in advance of admission.
If you have any questions about your invoice, please contact the inpatient billing team on 0511/532-8880 or by e-mail at Abrechnung.Stationaer@mh-hannover.de
If you would like to be accommodated in a twin or single room instead of a multi-bed room and would like treatment by the head physician, you can conclude separate optional service agreements.
The optional services for separate accommodation and treatment by the head physician can be concluded independently of each other.
Please check in advance of your planned inpatient hospital stay whether and to what extent you are insured for accommodation in a single or twin room and treatment by a chief physician. We recommend that you only take out optional benefits if you have sufficient insurance cover.
Depending on the type and duration of treatment, you may incur high costs for services that are not covered.
The current room prices ... can be found in the MHH tariff of charges.
The prices vary from ward to ward due to the different comfort features. These comfort features are determined by the Association of Private Health Insurance Companies.
If you make use of the single or twin room option (irrespective of whether you have chosen treatment by the head physician), you will be provided with various services free of charge, such as towels, daily newspaper and access to the MHH lounge.
Please note that due to high patient numbers, single or twin rooms may not be available. However, you can express your wish and an attempt will be made to move you to a single or twin room at a later date.
- The inpatient billing team will also be happy to provide you with personal information on 0511/5328880 or by e-mail Abrechnung.Stationaer@mh-hannover.de.
The costs for Elective service chief physician...
..., i.e. the physician's bills for private medical treatment, will be invoiced to you directly by the chief physician's office or by an external company, depending on the Clinical Department.
When making use of the elective service "medical services", the choice cannot be limited to individual physicians of the MHH who are entitled to liquidation (§ 17 para. 3 KHEntgG). An agreement on optional medical services extends to all employed or civil servant physicians of MHH involved in the treatment of the patient, insofar as they are entitled to charge separately for their services in the context of full and partial inpatient as well as pre- and post-inpatient treatment (Section 115a SGB V), including the services of physicians and physician-led Facilities or Institutions outside the hospital arranged by these physicians. This also applies if the MHH itself charges for optional medical services.
The provisions of the current version of the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ) apply to the invoicing of elective medical services. In accordance with Section 6a of the GOÄ, the fees for inpatient, daypatient and pre- and post-inpatient elective/private medical services are reduced by 25%, including the applicable surcharges; for services provided by attending physicians and other registered physicians by 15%. The physician's fee is generally claimed separately by the hospital physicians entitled to liquidation, unless the hospital's administration or an external billing office acts on behalf of the physician entitled to liquidation.
The separately billable medical services, even if they are billed by the hospital, are provided by elective physicians of the specialist departments or the medically managed Facilities or Institutions in person or under the supervision of the elective physician in accordance with professional instructions from a subordinate physician of the Department or Institute (Section 4 (2) sentence 1 GOÄ/GOZ or from the permanent medical representative (Section 4 (2) sentence 3 GOÄ/GOZ). These physicians are listed in a separate information booklet, which is handed out during administrative admission.
