Requirements for the admission of an accompanying person

Your health insurance company will cover the costs of the admission if one of the medical reasons listed below applies.

The decision on the existence of a medical reason will be made by the responsible physician.

The accommodation of the accompanying person is medically necessary in accordance with § 11 Para. 3 SGB V for the following reasons in order to achieve successful treatment:

 

  • Newborn/infant; toddler or child of pre-school age; schoolchild up to the age of 8 years
  • to overcome communication barriers due to the patient's mental or physical disability
  • in the event of severe anxiety or serious psychological problems for the patient
  • for seriously ill patients (e.g. organ failure, difficult operations, oncological disease, etc.)
  • for learning and practicing therapeutic or nursing measures or the handling of aids or remedies for use beyond acute inpatient care in the home environment
