Competence-based training of medical students in general medicine
Background
Since 2015, the National Competence-Based Learning Objectives Catalog for Medicine (NKLM) has provided uniform recommendations for the implementation of competence-based learning objectives in medical studies. The so-called mapping enables the recording, mapping and comparison of these learning objectives for each subject area.
Aims
The aim of this project is to map the learning objectives for the subject of general medicine at Hannover Medical School (MHH) from the perspective of teachers and students along the NKLM and to compare the results within and across locations. The mapping and evaluation are carried out in cooperation with the Office of Academic Affairs Medicine at MHH using the web-based database MERlin.
This project is the first to investigate which learning objectives of the NKLM are mapped in the subject of general medicine at medical faculties. The results allow initial conclusions to be drawn for the development of a common, cross-location catalog of learning objectives for the subject of general medicine. This should promote the standardization of general practice teaching and networking between the locations.

Collaborations
The implementation of the mapping at the MHH and the comparison of the mapping results within and across locations is carried out in cooperation with Prof. Sandra Steffens, the representative for curriculum development and NKLM at the MHH.
Furthermore, there is cooperation with the Institute and Teaching Department for General Medicine at the Tübingen and Freiburg sites.
