Hospice and palliative care in Hanover and the region: stocktaking and recommendations for further development
Background
Hospice and palliative care has developed considerably in recent years, both nationally and internationally, as well as in the Hannover Region. Both inpatient and outpatient structures have been expanded. However, there are always challenges in care practice (e.g. bed capacities on palliative care wards). An overall hospice and palliative concept includes numerous services, in particular hospices, hospice services, SAPV services and also new forms of care such as day hospices or day clinics. To what extent can the existing structures of hospice work and palliative care in the Hannover Region cover the need for care and how can they be sensibly developed further?
Aims
A scientific report on hospice and palliative care in the city and region of Hanover is to be compiled.
The expertise should
- collect, describe and analyze the current situation (in relation to national and international standards) and
- derive well-founded recommendations for further development.
The results of the project are to be used for the structural further development of hospice work and palliative care in the city and region of Hanover.
Funding
The research project is funded by the "Förderkreis für Palliativmedizin und -pflege im Klinikum Region Hannover" and the MHH's Institute ofGeneral Medicine and Palliative Medicine. It runs from 01.06.2024 to 31.05.2025.
