On January 11, 2020, the MHH-Alumni e.V. bid farewell to 107 graduates of Human medicine. Around 580 guests gathered for the graduation ceremony in the Canteen of Hannover Medical School. Prof. Dr. Siegfried Piepenbrock, Chairman of MHH-Alumni e.V., welcomed the newly graduated physicians and recalled his own graduation exactly 50 years ago: Back then, he said, only the license to practice medicine came by post, as there was no celebration like this back then. Marion Charlotte Renneberg, Vice President of the Lower Saxony Medical Association, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Ingo Just, Dean of Studies, also took the opportunity to give their best wishes to the new colleagues in a visibly good mood.

Nesrin Stock, who took to the microphone on behalf of all graduates, began her speech with a quote from Mark Twain: "You can sum up the science of medicine in a nutshell: Water, consumed in moderation, is harmless." The fact that the knowledge at the end of the course fortunately goes far beyond this formula is largely thanks to the dedicated lecturers at the MHH. Around two dozen of them were present in person, as the MHH teaching awards are traditionally presented during the graduation ceremony. And so Ms. Stock very much hopes that they "look back on the last few years with satisfaction and are also a little proud today."

The musical setting was impressive with its varied diversity: MHH student Jan-Marc Bleck delighted the audience with his acoustic guitar and German lyrics, while graduate Jenny Lam (violin) and Lukas Matthes (piano) struck a more classical note. The undisputed highlight of the event, however, was the presentation of the graduation certificates by MHH President Prof. Dr. Dr. Michael P. Manns, who had cut short his vacation especially for the occasion. The evening came to a successful conclusion with champagne and finger food.
