Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography have developed into an important monitoring procedure in anesthesia. In cardiac surgery, intensive care units, shock rooms or critical situations, statements can be made quickly regarding ventricular function, volume status or valve function. Transesophageal echocardiography has become an indispensable part of the operation, especially in reconstructive surgical procedures. This means that even complex operations can be accompanied and assessed with the help of 3D echocardiography.

The Hanover course on perioperative focused echocardiography, which has been adapted to the new curriculum, will offer interested colleagues modules 1-3 from 2018 and modules 1-4 from 2019.

The DGAI module concept provides for a time interval between the respective basic and advanced courses so that course participants have the opportunity to practically apply what they have learned in their everyday clinical practice, consolidate their knowledge and discuss any questions that may arise in the subsequent advanced courses with experienced colleagues. For this reason, we recommend that you do not book the respective basic and advanced courses in one block.

The courses are designed to teach the basics of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. Practical training is an essential and key component. The extensive practical exercises are carried out in the operating theater, in the intensive care unit and on simulators, depending on availability.

We also offer you an interdisciplinary team of instructors, modern echocardiography equipment including 3D echocardiography, extensive practical modules in the operating theater, on the intensive care unit and on simulators, excellent catering during the course days with breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake. You will also receive detailed course material with course scripts.
