Tasks of the specialist veterinarian for laboratory animal science

The tasks of the veterinary specialist include the veterinary management, supervision and/or planning of Facilities or Institutions in which animal experiments are carried out. Furthermore, the supervision of the keeping and care of animals before, during and after an animal experiment, including special conditioning, as well as the breeding of laboratory animals.

In addition, monitoring and conducting animal experiments, advising, training and further training of persons involved in animal experiments and acting as an animal welfare officer are also part of the area of responsibility.
