Pharmaceutical analysis is an important part of quality control and quality assurance in the pharmacy. Before a substance may be used for the manufacture of a medicinal product, it must be tested for its impeccable pharmaceutical quality in accordance with the applicable pharmacopoeia rules or other recognized pharmaceutical methods. The tests include verification of the identity, purity and content of the substances. Packaging materials and medicines that are produced in the pharmacy for stock must also be subjected to analytical quality control.
The main methods available are wet-chemical procedures and many physical-instrumental procedures (melting point, optical rotation, UV spectrum).
A total of approx. 800 tests are carried out in our company each year. Approximately 500 raw materials and 300 in-house preparations are tested.
Last but not least, finished medicinal products are organoleptically tested daily by our specialist staff in order to identify possible product defects and report them to the responsible supervisory authority.
