Teaching biochemistry for students of human medicine and dentistry
Biochemistry and molecular biology describe life processes at the molecular level. Through the Centre for Biochemistry at Hannover Medical School, human biochemistry is taught to students of human medicine and dentistry in the context of its function. This is the basis for understanding physiological and pathophysiological cell and organ function in clinical studies and for later medical practice.
Aim of the teaching
Teaching should comply with the principles of subject integration, problem orientation and application. To this end, thematic focal points are set to illustrate to students the connections within biochemistry as well as the links to other subjects. The aim is to understand the principles of biochemistry and not to teach as many details as possible.
Teaching structure
The teaching of biochemistry for students of medicine and dentistry is divided into lectures, internships and seminars. In addition, electronic teaching materials are available on the ILIAS teaching platform.
The internship and seminar supplement the lecture with exemplary experiments and lectures that help to illustrate the theoretical material of biochemistry, serve to deepen the subject matter and emphasize the clinical references. Exercise questions allow students to assess their level of knowledge during the course and thus enable targeted revision.
Material on the organization of the module and the teaching content can be found on the relevant pages of the ILIAS teaching platform.
If you have any questions about the organization of the module, please contact the biochemistry course coordinator.
