Private lecturer Dr. med. Anna-Maria Dittrich

is a specialist for pediatrics and adolescent medicine, pediatric lung specialist and allergologist.

Anna-Maria Dittrich studied in Berlin (Charité-Universitätsmedizin zu Berlin), Lausanne (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois) and New York (State University of New York, Stony Brook, NY). Her pediatric education and further training as a pediatric lung specialist took place in the Department of Pediatrics m.S. Pneumology and Immunology, Charité-Universitätsmedizin, Berlin, Prof. Ulrich Wahn and in the Department of Pediatric Pneumology, Allergology and Neonatology, Med. Hochschule Hannover, Prof. Gesine Hansen. Dr. Dittrich is trained as a trainer for asthma, neurodermatitis and cystic fibrosis and, as a senior physician in the department of Prof. Gesine Hansen, she is head of the pediatric cystic fibrosis department of the Hannover Medical School.

Scientific Activity

Dr. Dittrich's research focus is the investigation of immunological mechanisms of inflammatory diseases of the lung.

Anna-Maria Dittrich received her doctorate at the Robert Koch Institute, Berlin under Prof. Richard Kroczek. This was followed by scientific activities at the Department of Pediatrics m.S. Pneumology and Immunology, Charité-Universitätsmedizin zu Berlin, Prof. Hamelmann as well as research stays at Nat'l Jewish Hospital, Denver, Prof. Erwin Gelfand and as Emmy-Noether-scholar of DFG at the Department for Immunobiology, Yale University School of Medicine, Prof. Kim Bottomly. Since 2007, Dr. Dittrich is an independent research group leader in the Department of Pediatric Pneumology, Allergology and Neonatology, Prof. Gesine Hansen; since 2013 with teaching authorization (habilitation).

Dr. Dittrich is Principal Investigator at the German Center for Lung Research for the diseases bronchial asthma and allergies as well as cystic fibrosis. She is chairperson of the Research Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis in Cystic Fibrosis e.V.. Her work has been awarded with several prizes, among others the Young Investigator Award of the German Society for Allergology and Clinical Immunology, the International Klosterfrau Research Prize, the Christiane Herzog Research Promotion Prize and the Johannes Wenner Prize.
