Semiconductor SPECT

The GE Discovery NM 530c is a camera system optimized for cardiac imaging and equipped with innovative semiconductor detectors. The camera at the MHH is the first system of its kind at a German university hospital. The camera offers the following outstanding features:

Configuration of the CZT detectors

The Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride (CZT) semiconductor detectors enable a compact design and excellent imaging properties.

The detectors are firmly focused on the heart region. Camera movement is no longer necessary, resulting in significantly increased sensitivity.

Cardiac examination with 3 minutes recording time

Due to these special properties, a cardiac perfusion scintigraphy either very quickly (3-5 minutes compared to 20 minutes with the standard technique), or with significantly reduced radioactivity can be performed.

There are also other unique clinical testssuch as inflammation diagnostics using the double isotope techniqueor dynamic measurements of the kinetics of radiopharmaceuticals are possible.

The camera is seen as a pioneer for a broader application of CZT technology in other areas of nuclear medicine. Also in the preclinical area MHH is also working with this SPECT technology.
