All common dentistry and oral surgery X-ray procedures are carried out in the X-ray department of the dental, oral and maxillofacial clinic. State-of-the-art equipment is able to take images of individual tooth and jaw sections as well as entire jaws using the so-called panoramic tomography (OPT). It goes without saying that all images are taken in accordance with the current guidelines of the X-ray ordinance and radiation protection. Thanks to digital processing, we are able to reduce the radiation dose to the minimum necessary for diagnosis in many cases. All specialist clinical pictures, such as caries, bone fractures, cysts, displaced teeth or bone tumors, can be reliably detected.
For advanced questions, such as the exact position of the mandibular nerve during planned removal of the lower wisdom teeth, complex bony facial injuries after accidents or large bone defects caused by cysts or tumors, digital volume tomography (DVT) is available in our Clinical Department. This technique allows anatomical structures to be visualized in three dimensions.
You will be referred to the X-ray department at the request of the physicians working in the Clinical Department. If x-rays have already been taken by your family dentist, it is possible to scan the latest images you have brought with you. These are then digitally available to your treating dentist directly at the treatment site.
You can request all X-ray images taken at the clinic for further use by stating your address and the date of treatment at RoentgenZMK@mh-hannover.de.
