Cell and molecular biology laboratory
The cell and molecular biology research laboratory of the Clinical Department of Conservative Dentistry, Periodontology and Preventive Dentistry investigates various issues relating to the interaction of dental materials with human primary and immortalized cells of the oral cavity and the biology of oral mesenchymal stem cells. Molecular biological and protein biochemical methods, including real-time PCR, ELISA and Western blot techniques, are used to investigate cellular metabolism and how it is influenced. In addition, methods for the determination of genotoxicity and mutagenicity are carried out in our cell culture laboratory, as are various assays for the characterization of cellular metabolic states.
