Who is allowed to visit my child?
Healthy children under the age of 14 should not come to the ward, as it is always possible that a non-obvious childhood disease is being "incubated" in this age group, which could be dangerous for our patients.
What are the visiting times?
We do not have fixed visiting times so that parents can be with their children at all times - even at night. This is particularly useful for young children and children who are particularly ill. However, we ask that a maximum of two family members or visitors visit a child at any one time. We also need some peace and quiet on the ward. At night, a maximum of one caregiver can stay with the small or very sick children.
How do I deal with hygiene measures?
There are some easy-to-learn hygiene measures that are necessary for our patients. You will be thoroughly introduced to these rules of conduct and will also receive written information to take home with you. A special care team, the basic team, will prepare you for the first time at home.
Who will take care of my child's treatment?
Teams of senior physicians, specialists and residents work on the wards and in the outpatient clinics, who in turn coordinate very closely with Nursing. All patients are discussed very regularly with the entire team. There are daily ward rounds. Three times a week, a senior physician takes part in the ward rounds. A so-called chief ward round takes place every week. You can ask the team any questions you like and we will do our best to answer them to the best of our knowledge.
Will I also be supported with non-medical questions?
As the diagnosis of cancer will certainly upset your household and your plans, we have a team that will provide you with social legal advice and help you to cope with life to some extent during this difficult time. We also offer psychological support, which can be very useful and helpful due to your great worries.
