Dear Colleagues,

As in recent years, the field
of gastrointestinal oncology is evolving rapidly with a constant stream of new therapeutic
options, particularly in the areas of
immunotherapy and targeted therapies. With our
event, we aim to address this development
and provide you with a comprehensive overview of the developments
from the past year, ranging from new therapies
to updated guidelines.

Our event, in which we aim to summarize the most important
highlights of the individual gastrointestinal tumor entities
, will be kicked off by our colleague in visceral surgery,
Mr. van Beekum, with his report on the innovative
therapeutic approaches in hepatobiliary surgery at the MHH.
From the field of gastroenterology, Ms. Bathon will report on the most important
updates to the colorectal guidelines as well as
on the current studies on this topic. Next,
Mr. Wirth will attempt to summarize the numerous new study results
on esophagogastric tumors,
which are currently undergoing particularly dynamic development.

For the lecture on pancreatic cancer, we were able to
secure our colleague Alexander König from Göttingen,
who will focus on current and future precision therapies
for pancreatic cancer. To conclude
, Ms. Saborowski will speak about the encouraging developments
in anal cancer, where, after many years without
therapeutic improvements, new treatment standards were established
last year.

We hope we have piqued your interest in our program
and look forward to seeing you—either in person
in Lecture Hall M at MHH or online as a hybrid event.

Best regards
PD Dr. med. Anna Saborowski
Prof. Dr. med. Heiner Wedemeyer
PD Dr. med. Thomas Wirth
