Farewell in sunshine and high spirits

On July 2, 2022, the MHH Alumni e.V. celebrated the graduation ceremony for Human medicine with around 60 newly graduated physicians and their friends and families.

On this first Saturday in July, the sun was shining brightly with almost 320 guests who had gathered in lecture hall F to celebrate passing their exams - be it their own or that of their daughter or son, girlfriend or boyfriend, wife or husband. Professor Siegfried Piepenbrock, Chairman of MHH-Alumni e.V., congratulated the graduates not only on their graduation, but also on the career opportunities now open to them, ranging from the hospital sector to the entertainment industry (see Eckhart von Hirschhausen). The awarding of the EM!L, the alumni prize for innovative teaching, also gave the Chairman obvious pleasure. This year, the 4,000 euro award went to Dr. Lion D. Sieg and Dr. Hendrik Eismann for the digitalization of the Emergency Medicine module.

Dr. Marion Charlotte Renneberg, Vice President of the Lower Saxony Medical Association, congratulated the newly qualified physicians on their "most beautiful profession in the world". Dean of Studies Professor Ingo Just was delighted to be able to call the former students colleagues and presented them with their examination certificates, while Professor Piepenbrock handed out the obligatory red rose from the alumni association.

Incidentally, the music for the event did not come from the graduates themselves this time, but it was still something very special. Nepheli Elsas (14 years old, piano) and Jannes Wald (13 years old, saxophone) were by far the youngest artists to have ever performed on stage at an MHH Alumni e.V. graduation ceremony. The two young talents won first prize in this year's national "Jugend musiziert" competition and will soon be starting early studies at the Hanover University of Music. They completely impressed the guests with their virtuoso jazz interpretations and earned frenetic applause.

Graduate Lioudmila Marra Kotchenkova and graduate Simon Störzer also received applause for their witty and humorous speech, in which they vividly described the contradiction between the external perception of the almost finished physician and the self-image with a hopelessly overcrowded and overwhelmed short-term memory. Should the two of them actually turn their backs on actively practicing medicine one day, the alternative occupation in the entertainment industry mentioned at the beginning would certainly be an option. In any case, they contributed significantly to the relaxed atmosphere in which the guests ended the afternoon at the subsequent champagne reception.
