The Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Infectious Diseases and Endocrinology would like to congratulate Prof. Dr. med. Petra Lynen Jansen and Prof. Dr. med. Frank Schmitz on their successful inaugural lecture on 30.03.2023 in Lecture Hall M at the MHH, which was almost full to capacity.
PD Dr. med. Petra Lynen Jansen is Managing Director of the German Society for Gastroenterology, Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS) and a member of the guideline group for the S2k guideline on chronic constipation of the German Society for Gastroenterology, Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS) and the German Society for Neurogastroenterology & Motility (DGNM). The topic of her inaugural lecture was "How would you decide? Possibilities and limits of evidence-based medicine".
Prof. Dr. med. Frank Schmitz is Chief Physician of the Medical Clinical Department at the Herzogin Elisabeth Hospital Foundation in Braunschweig. His special focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and the treatment of diabetes mellitus and secondary diseases.Prof. Schmitz has also worked for many years as an examiner for colorectal cancer centers in Germany. The topic of his inaugural lecture was "Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. From the discovery of the adenoma-carcinoma sequence to the "liquid biopsy".
After the lectures, the habilitation certificates were presented. Prof. Dr. Torsten Witte and Prof. Dr. Heiner Wedemeyer congratulated the lecturers and welcomed them as new members of the external teaching staff of the MHH Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Infectiology and Endocrinology.
Afterwards, there was an opportunity for scientific exchange with colleagues over refreshments, coffee and cake.
