Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology

Obituary Prof. Dr. med. Klaus Böker

The staff of the Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Infectious Diseases and Endocrinology at Hannover Medical School mourn the loss of Prof. Dr. med. Klaus Böker, who passed away at the age of 67.

Professor Böker completed his specialist training at Hannover Medical School and worked as a senior physician in our Clinical Department for many years until 2003. Klaus Böker stood for hepatology, transplantation medicine and intensive medical treatment of complex gastroenterological diseases. Professor Böker's scientific work focused in particular on the mechanisms of liver fibrosis. As a member of the teaching staff, he always remained closely connected to "his MHH". As a hepatologist in private practice in Hanover, Professor Böker was in close contact with many colleagues in our Clinical Department for many years and always showed great commitment to his patients. Until the end, he was a person of strong character who acted straightforwardly and authentically. In Klaus Böker, we have lost a valued colleague and a committed teacher. We will honor Professor Klaus Böker's memory with gratitude.
