Our ENT Clinic is certified as part of the MHH's Interdisciplinary Allergy Centre:
From now on, we are part of the "CAC - Comprehensive Allergy Center / Certified Allergy Center". The Institute of Occupational Medicine, the Clinical Department of Ophthalmology, the Clinic of Dermatology, Allergology and Allergy, the Clinic of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology, the Clinical Department of Rheumatology and Immunology are all involved in the CAC, the Clinical Department of Paediatric Pneumology, Allergology and Neonatology, the Clinic for Pneumology, the Fraunhofer Institute of Toxicology and Experimental Medicine (ITEM) and, of course, our Clinical Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine, Gastroenterology and Experimental Allergology.
The Head and Neck Tumor Center of the MHH - recommended by the German Cancer Society
In November 2016, the Head and Neck Tumor Center of the MHH was successfully assessed by independent experts in accordance with the requirements of the German Cancer Society and received the award "Head and Neck Tumor Center recommended by the German Cancer Society". The defined quality criteria are reviewed in annual monitoring audits. The Head and Neck Tumor Center is an association of the Clinical Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine, the Clinical Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and all other specialist departments involved in the care of cancer patients. Under the umbrella of the Oncology Center of the MHH, the Head and Neck Tumor Center offers the best care for all tumor diseases in the head and neck area in all phases of the disease and the recovery process.

To ensure the consistent quality of our medical, technical, pedagogical and speech therapist expertise over many years, we are active in various and numerous ways:
Once a week
- ENT physicians, engineers and educators discuss current clinical issues, scientific developments and complications together.
- and several times a month there is an ENT Grand Round (medically certified further training) on current specific topics in ear, nose and throat medicine; the speakers are either external or from the ENT Clinical Department and the German Hearing Centre in Hanover.
Twice a month
- the entire DHZ team meets to discuss organizational procedures and patient care (with CIC Wilhelm Hirte).
- The DHZ educators and DHZ engineers meet for specialist team meetings.
Ongoing
- the hearing experts from the ENT Clinical Department and the DHZ meet with the respective manufacturers of different hearing systems to discuss current issues, problems and new developments and to design studies for patients.
- CI database for systematic quality assurance, computerized since 1993, database since 1984 with all patients treated in Hanover (as of 2016: around 8,000 patients).
- All companies that produce cochlear implants are based at the German Hearing Centre in Hanover. As soon as there are any questions or problems with a patient's product, these companies are consulted immediately.
- We work closely with the companies on new and further development of products in the hearing system industry, such as new electrodes.
- Prof. Lenarz is the lead moderator for updating the guidelines for the care of patients with cochlear implants.
