REM Sample preparation

Array Tomography Ultramicrotome (ATUMtome, RMC Boeckeler Instruments). Ultramicrotome with the option of automated production of serial ultra-thin sections, which are then displayed for 3D reconstruction using scanning electron microscopy.

A Balzers CPD 030 critical point drying device (formerly: Balzers, Liechtenstein) is available for the critical point drying of scanning electron microscope samples.

A Polaron High Resolution Sputter Coater E 5400 (Polaron Equipment Ltd., Watford Herts, England) equipped with a gold target is available for conductive contrasting of the SEM samples.
