Immediate measures

If a transfusion-associated adverse reaction is suspected, the following immediate measures are initiated:

• Interruption or discontinuation of the transfusion
• Leave access in place
• Symptomatic therapy according to the Clinical Department
• Identification of the patient
• Documentation on the accompanying bill for blood components
• Initiate clarification of the transfusion reaction (transfusion reaction request card)
• Sampling for laboratory tests and immediate forwarding to the ITM
• Assessment of the connection with the transfusion
