Clinical chemistry and laboratory diagnostics
Block practical course in clinical chemistry, laboratory diagnostics (module MSE_P_407)
Course dates (subject to changes by the Student Secretariat):
The module takes place for the 3rd year of study in the 1st,2nd, 4th and 5th quintiles.
The Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Central Laboratory together with the Clinical Department of Haematology, Haemostaseology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation and the Institute of Transfusion Medicine
organizes the block practical course "Clinical Chemistry, Laboratory Diagnostics".
In a seven-day course, the basics of clinical-chemical laboratory diagnostics and the application of chemical-analytical methods for the diagnosis, therapy control and prevention of diseases are presented.
The aim of the internship is to show students the possible applications of clinical-chemical examinations in the context of practical medical work. The aim is not to teach them the skills of technical assistants in carrying out the analyses, which would not be possible in the short time available for the internship. Rather, the students should become familiar with the methods, their time and material requirements and their potential for error and be put in a position to specifically request clinical-chemical examinations and to classify and evaluate the findings in the clinical picture.
