SuddenInfant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the most common cause of death in infants aged between one month and one year in industrialized countries. Awareness campaigns on safe sleeping environments for babies have led to a significant reduction in deaths in recent decades, but SIDS remains a feared phenomenon. Research into the causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome remains a major challenge due to the multifactorial nature of the syndrome. Advances in biomedical research and developments in the field of bioinformatics are opening up new approaches to SIDS research. One aspect that has received little attention to date is the role of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) as a potential piece of the puzzle in causal research. In our research group, we are dedicated to investigating the role of these and other key molecules in the development of SIDS.
