About CELLS
CELLS (Centre for Ethics and Law in the Life Sciences) is an internationally oriented research network that was founded in September 2010 by Hannover Medical School (MHH) and Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH). CELLS members research, teach and advise on ethical, legal and social aspects (ELSA) of the life sciences. Under the umbrella of CELLS MHH, MHH research activities in the ELSA field interact and thus create synergies for joint projects and public relations work.
Research: CELLS members are actively involved in ELSA research in the life sciences. Current and former research in CELLS-MHH is funded by the EU, DFG, BMG and BMBF. CELLS-MHH members cooperate with a large number of internationally renowned research centers.
Teaching: Curricula on ELSA in the life sciences are currently being developed for a number of different target groups. It is a medium-term goal of CELLS to offer certified courses for students and scientists of the participating universities as well as for external institutions and for training purposes.
Consulting: CELLS aims to offer ELSA specific expertise and support for biomedical and biotechnological research in Hannover.
CELLS is organized as a network of research groups led by experts in a specific field.
CELLS members also offer opportunities for PhD students and guest scientists, funded through grant programs. Currently via Mercator (DFG), Erasmus Mundus (LAST-JD), HERMES (AvH). If you are interested in a guest position with a specific CELLS member, please contact us.
