Background and objectives
The professional field of Nursing is undergoing a digital transformation: Due to demographic change, the number of people in need of care is increasing on the one hand, while at the same time there is a shortage of qualified professional carers. On the other hand, digitalization in Nursing can open up new opportunities with the implementation of care technologies. The "Future of Nursing" cluster - consisting of a Nursing Innovation Center (PIZ) and four Nursing Practice Centers (PPZ) in Berlin, Freiburg, Hanover and Nuremberg - has shown that these technologies are effective under certain conditions in a wide variety of care settings. However, the potential arising from care technologies is hardly used in nursing practice. The "Future of Nursing" cluster is positioning itself as a joint transfer and innovation hub in the second funding phase to ensure that the research, development and dissemination of nursing technologies continues to progress and that experience and results from the research project are transferred to other Facilities or Institutions throughout Germany.
The motivation for the Nursing Practice Center (PPZ) Hanover arises from the fact that it is not only unclear how technological innovations can be effectively and sustainably transferred to different care settings, but also how and to what extent promoting and inhibiting factors affect this transfer.
The team at the Hannover Nursing Practice Center (PPZ-Hannover) is not only researching the various care pathways and the implementation process as well as the benefits of nursing technologies. The skills development of caregivers and the economic implications of new technology are also being investigated. The project aims to facilitate and accompany the transfer of technological innovations to various healthcare Facilities or Institutions, which in turn will act as multipliers themselves.
It is planned to network with relevant (international) players. For example, a research database, which the PPZ-Hannover will help to develop and maintain, will reach other Nursing and research institutions that are not part of the cluster and support them in their digital transformation with the help of templates or guidelines. Thanks to its many years of experience in researching technological innovations and their practical implementation and application, the PPZ-Hannover team will be able to contribute valuable content to this database.
