Forum Junge Radiologie
Eugenie and Felix Wachsmann Innovation Award 2023

Congratulations to Dr. Becker and her colleagues from the "Forum Junge Radiologie", who have been awarded the Eugenie and Felix Wachsmann Innovation Prize 2023 for their work on the "Raducation" platform.
"Raducation" is an independent project of the "Forum Junge Radiologie", which, with the support of the German Radiological Society, provides all learning content (digital seminars, lectures, eBooks, reviews or specialist articles) in accordance with the learning objectives of the radiology training curriculum of the Forum Junge Radiologie, the German Radiological Society, the German Society for Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Therapy, the German Society for Neuroradiology and the Society for Pediatric Radiology in accordance with the model training regulations. This makes it possible to become "fit for duty", to prepare for the specialist examination - including the creation of own learning plans - and to deepen knowledge in the subspecialties of radiology.
Behind this innovative project is the commitment of over 40 young radiologists, who have been awarded the Wachsmann Innovation Prize.

About the Eugenie and Felix Wachsmann Innovation Award of the German Radiological Society:
With the Eugenie and Felix Wachsmann Innovation Award, the German Radiological Society honors the memory of its founder Prof. Dr. Felix Wachsmann. It is awarded in recognition of the dedicated further development and successful implementation of central offers, services and programs of the German Radiological Society and is endowed with 500 euros.

Computer tomograph with integrated laser navigation put into operation

CT plays an important role in image-guided therapy - the latest CT machine at the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the MHH has integrated laser navigation, which enables physicians to carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures more quickly and precisely. The MHH is one of the first Clinical Departments in the world to use such a device.

AI-based image analysis and automated report templates

Scientists at the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Hannover Medical School are collaborating with the University Medical Center Mannheim, Fraunhofer MEVIS, Visage Imaging GmbH and Smart Reporting in a BMBF-funded project to develop an AI-based decision support system. The aim is to structure and present the complex treatment of malignant tumors of the liver in line with guidelines. A central part of the project is the processing of magnetic resonance imaging and computer tomography images. The project, which is officially scheduled to run until May 2022, is currently in the clinical test phase.

3D thermometry using a radial vibe stack of stars sequence

In her work "3D Thermometry using a Radial Vibe Stack of Stars Sequence", Karen Meyer zu Hartlage (Hannover Medical School) deals with the possibility of non-invasive temperature monitoring during an MRI examination. This is particularly useful for monitoring MRI-guided minimally invasive thermal ablation. 3D thermometry offers the possibility of covering the entire ablation volume with a high temporal and spatial resolution.
Using microwave ablations performed in a phantom, Karen was able to demonstrate the usability of the "Stack of Stars" sequence for monitoring thermal ablations in the liver as part of her bachelor's thesis and achieve promising initial results.
