Interventional Radiology team

Interventional radiology specializes in imaging diagnostics and image-guided therapy, for example for vascular diseases, inflammation, tumours and pain. Minimally invasive procedures in interventional radiology are a growth area - both in everyday clinical practice for the gentle treatment of our patients and in research.

Thanks to a wide range of innovations in both materials (catheters, stents, balloons) and imaging during the procedure, image-guided therapies that were unthinkable just a few years ago are now possible.

Procedures:

  • CT or sonographically supported interventions (tumour ablation, drainage systems, diagnostic puncture) Oncological treatment procedures such as transarterial chemoembolization, SIRT
  • Vascular occlusion procedures for bleeding
  • Vessel-opening procedures for circulatory disorders (balloon dilation, stent implantation, revascularization)
  • Treatment procedures for high pressure in the portal vein (TIPS)
  • Creation of permanent vascular accesses (port catheters, tunneled catheters, central venous catheters for permanent retention, "PICC lines").
  • Vena cava filters for the prophylaxis of pulmonary embolism
  • Treatment of dialysis shunts
  • Treatment of vascular malformations by direct injection
