After infection, innate immunity is usually induced within hours, ensuring survival of the host for the first few days. It takes a week or more for the adaptive immune system to be activated enough to eliminate pathogens, or at least control their multiplication. We investigate the pathogenesis of viral infectious diseases with a focus on hepatitis viruses, herpes viruses and influenza viruses. We are looking for biomarkers relevant to infectious diseases, and we are developing new strategies to prevent and treat infectious diseases.
