Special Immunology (BM WP 08)
Qualification objectives
Building on the understanding of the general immunological processes in mammals gained in the "Immunology" module, the "Special Immunology" module provides background knowledge on special research projects of the lecturers involved. This familiarizes students with the current state of knowledge and research in selected areas of immunology.
Competencies
Lecture and seminar: Based on current publications on the respective topics, students will have an understanding of how the very specific immunological questions are approached experimentally using classical and state-of-the-art techniques after attending the lecture and seminar. In addition, by studying topic-specific publications in the seminar, students will also be able to present experimental results correctly and discuss them critically in the context of the current state of research.
Internship: After being involved in current experimental research on the basis of individual supervision, students participating in the internship have a detailed thematic insight into theory and practice and thus have the skills they need to plan and carry out experiments independently in the future, e.g. as part of a Master's thesis in immunology.
