Prof. Dr. med. Klaus Stahl - Curriculum Vitae
Prof. Dr. med. Klaus Stahl is a senior physician and research group leader in the Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Infectiology and Endocrinology at Hannover Medical School. He is a specialist in "Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology" and a specialist in "Internal Medicine and Nephrology". He also holds additional qualifications in "Intensive Care Medicine" and "Emergency Medicine".
Prof. Dr. Stahl studied medicine in Hanover, Bologna and New Haven. In his dissertation at Yale University, he focused on electrophysiological aspects of the CFTR transport molecule. After obtaining his license to practice medicine in 2013, he began his specialist training at the Clinical Department of Nephrology and later continued it at the Clinical Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology at Hannover Medical School. Prof. Dr. Stahl has been a specialist in "Internal Medicine and Nephrology" since 2019. In 2022, he qualified as a specialist in "Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology". His clinical and scientific work focuses on interventional endoscopy and intensive care medicine. Prof. Dr. Dr. Stahl has headed a scientific working group on this topic since 2020 and is also co-PI of a multicenter translational intensive care studygroup (BonHanZA study group). The results of his research have been published in numerous original papers. Prof. Dr. Stahl received the "Venia legendi" (habilitation) in 2021. He is co-PI of a multicenter DFG-funded phase 3 RCT to investigate therapeutic plasma exchange as adjuvant therapy for septic shock (EXCHANGE-2 study).
Prof. Dr. Dr. Stahl is in charge of the gastroenterology wards 38, 23b and 86 and works as a senior physician in the functional areas of endoscopy and sonography.
