The course lasts 3 years (6 semesters) and starts every year on October 1st.
Prerequisites for attending the MTR school are
- Health suitability for practicing the profession
- A minimum age of 16 years
- Secondary school leaving certificate I/ vocational baccalaureate/ high school diploma
- Interest in science and innovative medical technology
- Ability to work in a team, reliability and resilience
- Empathy and enjoyment in dealing with people
- Vaccination against measles
- Good knowledge of German, at least C1 level

The apprenticeship is remunerated as follows and involves a working week of 38.5 hours:
- in the 1st year approx. 1,280.74 €
- in the 2nd year approx. 1,340.80 €
- in the 3rd year approx. 1,437.53 €
A limited number of dormitory rooms are available.
The legal basis for the training is the "MT-Berufe-Gesetz" of February 24, 2021 and the "Prüfungsverordnung für Medizinische Technologinnen und Medizinische Technologologen (MT-Ausbildungs- und Prüfungsverordnung MTAPrV)" of September 24, 2021.
