Radiotherapy

A linear accelerator can be seen.

Patients who have been diagnosed with a malignant disease are treated with radiation; less frequently, patients with benign diseases are also treated.

In this area of work, as an MTR, you will mainly treat malignant tumour diseases using ionizing radiation. This treatment is carried out using X-rays or particle radiation on a linear accelerator.

As an MTR,you will accompany patients during radiation planning, from the first to the last radiation treatment; in short: during the entire treatment period (5-8 weeks).

Your exact positioning and your daily control of the radiation fields has the highest priority before you start the therapy.

Your empathic care of the patients during this time is very important, as you are the first point of contact for questions, concerns and requests.

Your close cooperation with medical physicists is essential when creating a radiation plan and carrying it out.

Your teamwork and empathy are particularly in demand!
