The members of my working group conduct research on various neurological diseases and cover the entire spectrum from basic and translational research to clinical and healthcare research. Our investigations range from experimental animal and cell models to blood- and liquor-based biomarkers and clinical studies.
Our aim is to gain a better understanding of pathomechanisms, make earlier and more reliable diagnoses and develop new targeted, individualized therapies. We use established methods and experimental models and also develop innovative approaches using state-of-the-art technologies.
A particular focus is on research into neuroimmunological, neuroinfectiological and neurooncological diseases. Our research also addresses the role of inflammation in neurodegenerative diseases. We cooperate closely with working groups within the Clinical Department of Neurology, other neurological clinics in Germany and international research groups.
Our translational approach is characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration with a national and international focus.
