1975	Abitur at the Altes Gymnasium, Bremen.
1976	Winner of the state competition "Jugend forscht" in Bremen, specializing in chemistry.
1975 to 1981	Studied dentistry at the Georg-August University of Göttingen.
1982	Doctorate in Göttingen.
1981 to 1983	Worked as a dentist in the German Armed Forces.
1983 to 1986	Assistant dentist in the Clinical Department for Maxillofacial Surgery at the Katharinenhospital in Stuttgart (Medical Director: Prof. Dr. Dr. H. Schüle).
1986	Recognized as "Dentist, Oral Surgery".
1986 to 1992	Worked as a research assistant in the Department of Orthodontics at the Georg-August University Hospital in Göttingen (Director: Prof. Dr. Dr. D. Kubein-Meesenburg).
1989	Recognized as a "specialist dentist for orthodontics".
1989	Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (Head: Prof. Dr. W.R. 2008	Appointed as spokesperson for the subject of orthodontics on the "Expert Advisory Board" of the Association of University Teachers of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine (VHZMK).
2012	Member of the commission for the development of the National Competence-Based Learning Objectives Catalog for Dentistry (NKLZ) of the German Society of Dentistry and the Association of University Teachers of Dentistry.

 

 

Main areas of scientific activity

 

Functional diagnostics (in particular neuromuscular control of mandibular movement and myofunction), biomechanics, lingual technique, functional orthodontics, interdisciplinary orthodontic-jaw-surgical treatment of pronounced dentofacial deformities, treatment of facial clefts, dental didactics.

Married, three children.
