PD Dr. Martin Böhne studied Human Medicine at Hannover Medical School, supplemented by stays abroad, including at the University of Cambridge, UK. Dr. Böhne completed his doctorate with an experimental study on the role of protein kinase C-alpha in diabetic nephropathy in a murine gene knock-out model.
Dr. Böhne began his pediatric training in 2004 as part of the structured "common-trunk" program at the Children's Hospital of the MHH. Since 2007, he has worked in the Department of Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine, where he completed his specialization in pediatric cardiology and further training in pediatric intensive care medicine in 2015.
He has worked as a senior consultant since 2014 and as a senior physician in the interdisciplinary pediatric intensive care unit since 2016. In addition to the intensive medical care of critically ill patients, including those with congenital heart disease, his area of responsibility also includes the supervision and expansion of the Pediatric Intensive Care Network (PIN). As part of the PIN team in ICU 67, he is responsible for the development, organization and implementation of numerous course modules and workshops for Nursing staff and physicians (e.g. "Intensive care workshop on infusion management").
Dr. Böhne's scientific work involves several translational projects and clinical studies on macro- and microcirculation issues. One of his topics includes the optimization of haemodynamics in cardiac surgery patients. Another scientific focus is the application and safety of infusion therapy. He is one of the founding members of the Safety Expert Team (SET) Infusion Management at Hannover Medical School.
