The German Society for Pediatric Cardiology (DGPK) is the umbrella organization for pediatric cardiology in Germany. The DGPK is a non-profit medical society with the aim of promoting science, diagnostics and therapy as well as the prevention of congenital and acquired cardiovascular diseases in children and adolescents. It is involved in teaching (training, further education and training) and the development of guidelines.

In the Competence Network for Congenital Heart Defects, scientists and physicians from Germany and Europe work together to achieve better care for patients with congenital heart defects.
Various scientific projects are coordinated under the umbrella of the Competence Network for Congenital Heart Defects, in which the Clinical Department of Paediatric Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Hannover Medical School also participates. These include, for example, the Congenital Heart Defects Registry and the Registry for Children and Adolescents with Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle).
