The Hannover Medical School (MHH) confirms that proceedings against a former MHH physician on three counts of homicide will begin on Friday at the Hannover Regional Court. During the investigation, MHH cooperated fully with the relevant authorities and will continue to do so as the proceedings unfold. Given the seriousness of the allegations, MHH terminated the physician’s employment immediately after the charges were filed. We ask for your understanding that we cannot comment further due to the ongoing proceedings.
As a matter of principle, caring for our patients and ensuring their medical treatment is our highest priority. For MHH, these events represent an exceptional situation that deeply disturbs us. We clearly distance ourselves from any conduct that violates legal or ethical principles.
Even before the public prosecutor’s office launched its investigation, MHH had already initiated internal investigations and suspended the employee. After these initial investigations revealed unconfirmed indications of a possible legal violation, the MHH acted promptly and decisively and reported the case to the public prosecutor’s office.
