Dr. Manuel Vicente, Institute of Clinical Biochemistry, has been awarded the Roland Schauer Young Scientist Prize 2025 by the Gesellschaft für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie (GBM). The prize, endowed with 2000 euros, recognizes his groundbreaking research findings in glycobiology - the science of sugar molecules (glycans) on cell surfaces. Dr. Vicente identified mechanisms of how glycans regulate the immune system and control blood vessel formation during kidney development.
