Great recognition for the research of Hannover Medical School (MHH): In the "Ranking 2022 of the Best Universities in the World", the MHH is ranked 309th among the best 1,000 universities in the world - even though, as a divisional university, it can only compete with the subjects of the life sciences. After the University of Göttingen (196th place), the MHH is the second best university in Lower Saxony in this comparison by the Research.com portal. "Our performance once again proves that we are one of the most research-active university medical institutions in Germany," emphasises MHH President Professor Dr. Michael Manns. This can also be demonstrated by the third-party funds acquired for research: In 2021, the MHH was able to spend almost 100 million euros of this research funding. In medicine, the MHH is ranked 112th worldwide, 6th nationally and 1st in Lower Saxony.

The ranking, conducted for the first time by the Research.com platform, is based on the research and publication achievements of the leading scientists at the respective universities. For the ranking, the achievements of 166,880 researchers were examined on Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Graph on the cut-off date of 6 December 2021. For MHH, 58 researchers are listed - led by Professor Manns, MHH President, Professor Dr Thomas Illig, Head of the Hannover Unified Biobank, and Professor Dr Axel Haverich, Director of the Clinic for Cardiac, Thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery.

According to the evaluation, Harvard University in Boston (USA) is the university with the most research worldwide, followed by Stanford University in Stanford (USA). The best German university is the Ludwig Maximillians University of Munich in 79th place. You can find the entire ranking here, and the evaluation of the MHH here.
